Oh friday

It should be more like OH FRIDAY! Ever since we moved down to Orange County with my family, Adam has more often than not been working 50-60 hour work weeks. WOW. That is all I have to say. Actually one more thing, being a mom is the single HARDEST and single MOST REWARDING job I have ever had. The Love and pure joy that comes from serving my children cannot be beat. I am so in love with them both. From the constant smiles to the constant running around, they keep me SO busy, it is hard to find time for myself, or me and Adam. We have been able to go a date night once a week for a little while now, and it is a lifesaver.

Dear Date night,
Thank you so much for the peace that you come with :)

I love the quiet as much as I love the insanity. They are growing way too fast. The boys have not yet met there great grandparents from my mom's side. They live in Arkansas, which, needless to say, is a good distance. I wish that we could be NEAR all family. It is sad really because Ethan is such great friends with some of his cousins that are in Bakersfield. He has such a great time whenever they are together. So the decision to move here permanently was a difficult one but we agreed it is what is best for our family.

Now that it is permanent we need to get settled and get some things in order. We REALLY want to start a weekly soccer thing! We have been trying but have not had too much luck. I finally got a nap! When Adam got home at 2:30 took Ethan out and let me nap while T napped. mmm. So peaceful and very rejuvenating.

So sunday night at midnight is the big night for Heather Sargeant Photography! I am almost done with the website, just a few finishing touches on the site and on the giveaway! But shhh. It is a secret! I cannot wait I am soo excited.

Please help HSP out by liking my facebook page and following my blog at Heathersargeantphotography.blogspot.com! Thanks!

The past few days... Sargeant style.

So it has been such a whirlwind doing all of this but it has been totally awesome keeping me busy so Adam's workday goes by faster. So there are a few things going on right now that are awesome. Well at least to us they are..

Things new with me. This blog, it has been so much fun. I have been forcing myself to wake up earlier so i have some alone time before the 2nd boy wakes up. it has been pretty great although i have been way more tired. I have started a diet because i am sick of baby weight. ugh. Adam and i have started looking for homes. mostly the riverside area. I found a house that i am in love with but there was in escrow with an offer pending :( Although we own a home I have never really been through the home buying process. When Adam bought our first house, we were only engaged, not yet married. He went to the home auction with his dad and on when he got home, he said, sooo.. I bought a house! ha ha. It was a perfect home for us now, with our family of 4, but then it was only the two of us, so we only lived in the house for about a year and then we could not justify paying rent on a four bedroom house when it was only the two of us. soon to be 3. The auction was in september, i moved in in october and he moved in after we were married, in december. It was a whirlwind with no waiting so we will see how this next process goes. I have heard many a horror story : ( photography is going well, it has definitely been a struggle getting started with all of these amazing photographers in orange county. but also very nice because i have had some great mentoring. looking forward to FINALLY launching, I love it is so much fun.

Things new with adam. Starting next monday, Adam has new job. He is currently working for a construction company that partially government funded because they build for low income. he is the assistant super intendant with talk of him becoming super intendant at the next job which would have been july most likely but, we felt the move was something of an awesome opportunity so we took it. He was making good money there and while we are currently living in my parent's studio apartment, we have been very blessed. He will now be working for my dad, his father in law, when previously, with his construction job he was working with HIS dad. so a bit of a change. He with be the new manager of so cal biofuel and superior service recycling, which are 2 of the 3 companies my dad currently owns. The two companies are currently separate but are in the process of merging. Adam received his bachelors in business management. We have been trying to figure out, for about a year now, what path we would take with a family and we have now found it. it is a great feeling finally knowing where we are headed next and not constantly waiting to figure it out. Adam will excel at this job, and has already worked a few days there while my dad was out of town and he seems to enjoy and has caught on well and quickly. the plan is to eventually have adam take over when my dad wishes to retire. So here is to the future, bright and scary all at the same time.

Things new with ethan.. he is sooo goofy. that is what everyone says, and he keeps me laughing all the time! Every time he hears music his head starts to bob (dancing). He kisses trevor about 50 times a day and when he sees him first thing in the morning he says "hi!" and laughs. He loves his little brother. He is currently cutting his 2 bottom molars (ouch and no bueno) and running around everywhere. he has started talking ALL the time. mostly sounds, the words he does say are momma, da da, num num, shoes, juice, binky, ba ba, ball, thank you (funniest thing ever), i am sure there are more but i cannot think of them. he tells us what he wants by pointing. he loves food, his ba bas, his binkies, outside, and disney pixar animated films. Sleeps like a stud and has a cute gap in between his two front top teeth. he is so much fun!

Things new with trevor. He is rolling over, he pulls his legs under him, but arms are not quite strong enough to support yet. he is sleeping and eating like a stud too. it was rough at first with all of the health issues but everything is back to normal and he is 50 percentile with just about everything. He is very handsy, whether it is in his mouth or playing with the toys dangling in front of him. he is ALWAYS smiling. seriously, even when he cries, if you look at him he smiles ha ha it is awesome. he LOVES his big brother, ethan can calm him down in seconds and he does just that. the second trevor starts crying ethan runs over and says, "hi" over and over again until trevor is smiling and happy again! ha ha. trevor is such a little peanut compared to my tank man. it is so much fun and so much work with these two little rascals! trevor loves his binkies and being held. LOVES being held. but mostly by mommy, which we did not realize until this easter. I tried three times to hand him over to fam and he just cried for no reason so we will see how we handle that! he loves his bouncer, just like ethan so it will be fun to see if he is a jumper like ethan was.

i love them so much, they are such a joy to me and i am so blessed to be able to stay home with them. adam is such a great dad and honestly does the majority of the work when he is home, i am very spoiled by him. also looking forward to fitting into my wedding dress again, 1 because i have not been my "normal" size for like 2 1/2 years now and 2 because adam and i will be taking pictures at the temple! that is just about it that is new with the sargeant family. I hope to keep up with blogging this time so wish me luck. Until tomorrow!

Tyler's Ultimate. The Ultimate Burger and Burger Bar. Recipe # 3

Oh my goodness. Can you say DELICIOUS! mm. mm. mm. splendid. This burger was not your average American Cheeseburger, It was definitely gourmet and very easy to follow. I loved it, Jaime loved it, Adam  does not really count because he cheated. My mom liked it. mm. mm. mm. that is all i have to say again!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds brisket, ground
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 thin slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, split

Directions

Preheat a large cast-iron skillet to medium hot. Take a few paper towels and fold them several times to make a thick square. Blot a small amount of oil on the paper towel and carefully and quickly wipe the hot skillet to make a nonstick surface.
Season the ground meat in a bowl with salt and pepper. Give it about 3 turns in the bowl with your hands or a big spoon and it's done. Shape into 4 patties. When the skillet is hot, put the burgers on the skillet and cook 4 minutes on the first side and 5 for the second side for rare; 7 minutes per side for medium, adding the cheese during the final minute or 2 to melt. Remove the burgers to a plate. Rub the skillet with the folded paper towel again to clean it. Then toast the buns cut side down for about 1 minute, just to mark them. Serve the hamburgers in the buns with the accompaniments below.
Sauteed Mushrooms:
Saute 1 pound thickly sliced mushrooms in 1/4 cup olive oil with 2 sliced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves over super-high heat until nicely browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in a couple of drops fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
Caramelized Onions:
Heat 2 tablespoons unsalted butter with 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add 2 onions, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices, sprinkle with salt and pepper and cook slowly until well caramelized, 15 to 20 minutes.

Tomatoes with Sea Salt and Chives:

Thickly slice 2 pounds red and yellow beefsteak tomatoes, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt and 1/2 bunch chopped fresh chives.
Bacon with Rosemary:
Lay out 1/2 pound sliced bacon on a baking sheet, strip leaves from 1 sprig rosemary and throw them on top with lots of cracked black pepper and roast at 400 degrees F until the bacon is crisp, about 10 minutes.
Herbed Horseradish Mayonnaise:
Stir together 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish, 1/4 cup freshly minced herbs such as parsley, basil, chives or scallion, 2 tablespoons olive oil, a little squeeze of lemon juice, and salt and pepper.

some notes on this recipe.. i used bacon instead of pancetta. (sorry i went to 3 different stored looking for pancetta and then i could not justify any more searching. ) bacon was superb, although i cooked it twice as long as the recipe called for and it still was not as crispy as i would have like it. i probably should have cut them in half. the chile ketchup was god and the tomatoes were delicious and EVERY one said that they looked really pretty. Make sure that you do not cook the burgers for too long... oops :) the mushrooms were to die for. the onions were superb the mayo was so rich and YUMMY, and get a good quality swiss cheese so it does not taste so funny. I hate swiss cheese normally BUT I got boar's head brand this last time and it was awesome. You can get boars head brand everything at Gem meats on yorba linda blvd. they are awesome! Hope you enjoy! until Recipe # 4!

BOM 1 Nephi Chapter 3

Chapter 3. This is a fun eventful chapter. Not only is there adventure, danger, violence, faith, obedience, perseverance, revelation, greed, murmuring and a miracle but there are soooo many ways that we can compare this chapter to our lives now. It is so interesting to me how the scriptures still work perfectly for our day. These prophets were truly inspired.

The First Book of Nephi

Chapter 3

Lehi’s sons return to Jerusalem to obtain the plates of brass—Laban refuses to give the plates up—Nephi exhorts and encourages his brethren—Laban steals their property and attempts to slay them—Laman and Lemuel smite Nephi and Sam and are reproved by an angel. About 600–592 B.C.
1And it came to pass that I, Nephi, returned from aspeaking with the Lord, to the tent of my father.
2And it came to pass that he spake unto me, saying: Behold I have dreamed a adream, in the which the Lord hath commanded me that thou and thy brethren shall breturn to Jerusalem.
3For behold, Laban hath the record of the Jews and also aagenealogy of my forefathers, and they are bengraven upon plates of brass.
4Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me that thou and thy brothers should go unto the house of Laban, and seek the records, and bring them down hither into the wilderness.
5And now, behold thy brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of them; but behold I have not required it of them, but it is a commandment of the Lord.
6Therefore go, my son, and thou shalt be favored of the Lord, because thou hast anot bmurmured.
7And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I awill go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no bcommandments unto the children of men, save he shall cprepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
8And it came to pass that when my father had heard these words he was exceedingly glad, for he knew that I had been blessed of the Lord.
9And I, Nephi, and my brethren took our journey in the wilderness, with our tents, to go up to the land of Jerusalem.
10And it came to pass that when we had gone up to the land of Jerusalem, I and my brethren did consult one with another.
11And we acast lots—who of us should go in unto the house of Laban. And it came to pass that the lot fell upon Laman; and Laman went in unto the house of Laban, and he talked with him as he sat in his house.
12And he desired of Laban the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, which contained the agenealogy of my father.
13And behold, it came to pass that Laban was angry, and thrust him out from his presence; and he would not that he should have the records. Wherefore, he said unto him: Behold thou art a robber, and I will slay thee.
14But Laman fled out of his presence, and told the things which Laban had done, unto us. And we began to be exceedingly sorrowful, and my brethren were about to return unto my father in the wilderness.
15But behold I said unto them that: aAs the Lord liveth, and as we live, we will not go down unto our father in the wilderness until we have baccomplished the thing which the Lord hath commanded us.
16Wherefore, let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord; therefore let us go down to the land of our father’sainheritance, for behold he left gold and silver, and all manner of riches. And all this he hath done because of the bcommandmentsof the Lord.
17For he knew that Jerusalem must be adestroyed, because of the wickedness of the people.
18For behold, they have arejected the words of the prophets. Wherefore, if my father should dwell in the land after he hath been bcommanded to flee out of the land, behold, he would also perish. Wherefore, it must needs be that he flee out of the land.
 19And behold, it is wisdom in God that we should obtain thesearecords, that we may preserve unto our children the language of our fathers;
20And also that we may apreserve unto them the words which have been spoken by the mouth of all the holy bprophets, which have been delivered unto them by the Spirit and power of God, since the world began, even down unto this present time.
21And it came to pass that after this manner of language did Iapersuade my brethren, that they might be faithful in keeping the commandments of God.
22And it came to pass that we went down to the land of our inheritance, and we did gather together our agold, and our silver, and our precious things.
23And after we had gathered these things together, we went up again unto the house of Laban.
24And it came to pass that we went in unto Laban, and desired him that he would give unto us the records which were engraven upon the aplates of brass, for which we would give unto him our gold, and our silver, and all our precious things.
25And it came to pass that when Laban saw our property, and that it was exceedingly great, he did alust after it, insomuch that he thrust us out, and sent his servants to slay us, that he might obtain our property.
26And ait came to pass that we did flee before the servants of Laban, and we were obliged to leave behind our property, and it fell into the hands of Laban.
27And it came to pass that we fled into the wilderness, and the servants of Laban did not overtake us, and we ahid ourselves in the cavity of a rock.
28And it came to pass that Laman was angry with me, and also with my father; and also was Lemuel, for he hearkened unto the words of Laman. Wherefore Laman and Lemuel did speak manyahard words unto us, their younger brothers, and they did smite us even with a rod.
29And it came to pass as they smote us with a rod, behold, anaangel of the Lord came and stood before them, and he spake unto them, saying: Why do ye smite your younger brother with a rod? Know ye not that the Lord hath chosen him to be a bruler over you, and this because of your iniquities? Behold ye shall go up to Jerusalem again, and the Lord will cdeliver Laban into your hands.
30And after the aangel had spoken unto us, he departed.
31And after the angel had departed, Laman and Lemuel again began to amurmur, saying: How is it possible that the Lord will deliver Laban into our hands? Behold, he is a mighty man, and he can command fifty, yea, even he can slay fifty; then why not us?

Hope you enjoyed and saw all of the cool comparisons that I did. Until Chapter 4!
